Taiwan-OSHA and EU-OSHA Co-host the Inaugural EU-Taiwan Occupational Safety and Health Cooperation Meeting—A New Chapter for Bilateral Exchange in OSH Strategies and Technologies

  • Last Modify Date:2021-05-18

The 1st EU-Taiwan Occupational Safety and Health Cooperation Meeting  was successfully concluded between Taiwan-OSHA and the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) on 6 May 2021. Executive Director Christa Sedlatschek of EU-OSHA and Director General Tzou Tzu-Lien of Taiwan OSHA led colleagues in exchanging viewpoints on the two topics of “Safeguarding Occupational Safety and Health For Platform Economy Workers” and “Protecting and Providing Rehabilitation Services for Workers Suffering From Occupational Accident.” Both parties engaged in enthusiastic discussion during this virtual bilateral meeting.

This is the first time that Taiwan-OSHA and EU-OSHA co-host the EU-Taiwan Occupational Safety and Health Cooperation Meeting. Taiwan-OSHA Director-General Tzou appreciates all the support from EU-OSHA and also proposed that both parties take turns in hosting regular exchanges in the future, including mutual visits, expert missions and international seminars.

Both parties agreed that this was a very productive meeting and hope that once the pandemic subsides, the second EU-Taiwan Occupational Safety and Health Cooperation Meeting can be held in a physical meeting format. Topics for the next conference were also identified, including “Managing Exposure Risks to Chemical Carcinogens in the Workplace”, “Diagnosis of Occupational Injury or Disease”, and “Industry 4.0 Safety Management of Digital Machinery and Work Equipment.” Through these concrete discussions, both sides aim to solidify our partnership and develop more comprehensive occupational safety and health policies.
