The Ministry of Labor (MOL) held the "2025 Award Ceremony for Outstanding OSH Performance Agencies and Five-star Award Enterprises" on December 20 at the NCCU Center for Public and Business Administration Education. Deputy Minister of Labor, Chien-hung Lee, presided over the ceremony and presented the awards. In his remarks, Deputy Minister Lee highlighted that these awards aim to recognize government agencies and enterprises for their long-term dedication to workplace safety and health promotion. He expressed hope that all award recipients will continue to deepen their safety and health culture and work hand-in-hand with the MOL to create safer and healthier work environments.
Deputy Minister Lee emphasized that worker safety is the MOL's top priority. He noted that effective OSH requires a top-down commitment, urging government agencies to lead by example and ensure safety practices are implemented in every workplace.
The MOL conducts performance evaluations on the promotion of OSH by government agencies, alternating annually between "Central Ministries and the six Special Municipalities" and "the other 16 County/City Governments." The evaluation covers policy planning, regulatory enforcement, and cross-agency collaboration. This year, 15 entities (9 central ministries and 6 special municipalities) were evaluated, with 12 agencies receiving awards.
The agencies rated as "Excellent" include the Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC), Taoyuan City Government, Tainan City Government, and Kaohsiung City Government. Those rated as "Good" include the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW),Ministry of Education (MOE), Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), Taipei City Government, New Taipei City Government, and Taichung City Government. All awarded agencies demonstrated that their leadership places high importance on OSH policies and effectively utilizes cross-departmental resources to extend safety management to frontline workers, achievements that are highly commendable.
In the private sector, the recipients of this year’s prestigious Five-star Awards for outstanding safety and health units are: Taiwan Tobacco & Liquor Corporation's Taoyuan Printing Plant, the Army Communication, Electronics and Information Base Plant, ECOVE Environment Services Corp. (Tainan Chengxi Incineration Plant), and the Navy Ma Gong Logistics Support Command.
Additionally, two enterprises were recognized for Outstanding Performance in the Taiwan Occupational Safety and Health Management System (TOSHMS): Taiwan Green Point Enterprises Co., Ltd. and Macronix International Co., Ltd. (Fab 2). These winning units have successfully embedded the spirit of workplace safety and health into their core corporate culture, integrating it with construction and operational management to continuously enhance management efficiency, serving as exemplary models for all industries.
The MOL further explained that under the Labor Occupational Accident Insurance and Protection Act, enterprises receiving the Five-star Award are eligible for a 20% reduction in the industry-specific accident insurance premium rate. This incentive encourages continuous investment in safety measures. The MOL urges all sectors to integrate OSH into ESG strategies and collaborate to build a robust safety culture.
