To promote sustainable workplace development and a healthy labor force, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Ministry of Labor, collaborated with the Taiwan Society of Occupational Hygiene, the Taiwan Association of Environmental and Occupational Medicine, and Chung Hwa University of Medical Technology. From April 25th to 27th, 2025, they jointly hosted the “2025 International Conference on Occupational Hygiene and Occupational Medicine” at Chung Hwa University of Medical Technology. The conference was themed “Opportunities Amid Industrial Transitions: Shaping a Workplace Culture of Dignity and Health,” and invited international experts from the United States, Australia, Korea, and Japan to join local representatives from industry, government, and academia for in-depth discussions.

Minister Hung, Sun-Han, personally delivered remarks at the event, stating that the Ministry of Labor bears an unshirkable responsibility for the safety and health of workers in the workplace. He called for joint collaboration across industry, government, and academia, combining diverse professional expertise to develop sustainable workplace safety and health strategies, with the aim of building a friendly and dignified working environment. He also noted that the Ministry of Labor is actively reviewing and proposing amendments to the Occupational Safety and Health Act, to strengthen disaster prevention at the source in the construction industry and to introduce a dedicated chapter on workplace bullying prevention. The amendments emphasize hazard prevention and stronger protection for victims. He expressed the hope that enterprises will implement a “people-oriented, dignified labor” workplace culture.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration stated that April 28th is recognized as the “World Day for Safety and Health at Work,” and Taiwan designates the same week as “National Workplace Safety and Health Week.” This conference was part of the week’s activities, featuring international experts such as Anna S. Hui, Director of the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, USA; Martyn Campbell, Technical Advisor of the International Association of Labour Inspector (IALI); Professor Doo Yong Park of Hansung University, Korea; and Professor Shimazu Akihito of Keio University, Japan. Topics discussed included corporate sustainability, workplace mental health, the impact of climate change on workers’ health, hazard assessment and prevention strategies, and the application of AI technology in occupational safety and health. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will continue uniting resources and efforts across sectors to drive concrete actions that realize a workplace culture grounded in both health and safety.
