The 2024 International Conference on Occupational Hygiene & Medicine was held in Collaboration with Taiwan OSHA Occupational Hygiene and Occupational Medicine Groups to Build a Sustainable and Healthy Workforce

The 2024 International Conference on Occupational Hygiene & Occupational Medicine took place at China Medical University from April 19 to 21, 2024, held in partnership with the Taiwan Environmental and Occupational Medicine Association, the Taiwan Occupational Hygiene Association, and China Medical University. The event brought together prominent international scholars and experts from the United States, Finland, Singapore, Korea, Malaysia, and Japan as well as local professionals from industry, government, academia and research in the fields of occupational hygiene and medicine. Featuring the theme “Promoting Sustainability in the Workplace: A Holistic Approach to Achieve the SDGs,” it offered talks, keynote for a, and academic presentations for fostering a healthy workforce.

       Deputy Minister Hsu, Chuan-Sheng of the Ministry of Labor, in his address, encouraged all parties to promote sustainable and healthy workforce and continue to enhance occupational hygiene and safety management in workplace to ensure workers’ safety and health by adopting a comprehensive strategic approach. He also pointed out the recent major earthquake in Hualien, though not an occupational incidence, caused significant casualties and property damage and further highlighted the importance of disaster prevention, response and recovery and how the government agencies work with businesses and all parties to maintain industrial resilience and sustainable development.   

        In line with the conference theme, Taiwan OSHA organized the agenda included topics such as "Occupational Health Performance and SDGs," "Ergonomics and Prevention of Occupational Musculoskeletal Diseases," "Cross-departmental Collaboration to Promote Occupational Health Service Practice in Taiwan," and "Promoting Public-Private Partnerships in Occupational Disaster Prevention and Rehabilitation.". The conference also called for active involvement of and facilitation by all parties in the identification, assessment, and risk control of potential workplace hazards to ensure all workers operate in a dignified and safe environment and toword the corporate goal of sustainability.
