On the occasion of the gradual unblocking of border control, the Taiwan OSHA designated Ms. Lin Chiu-miao, director of the occupational accident labor protection division, to attend the 108th annual convention of the International Association of Industrial Accident Board and Commission (IAIABC) as a representative. This is the first time that the Taiwan-OSHA sent personnel to the United States to participate a physical meeting and conduct substantive international exchange activities since the outbreak of the COVID-19.

In this IAIABC annual convention, director Ms. Lin of the Taiwan OHSA participated a serial meeting including “Work Disability Prevention and Return to Work Committee Meeting”, “Medical Issues Committee Meeting”, “International Committee Meeting”, “Post-Pandemic Mental Health Issues”, and “the Heads of Delegation Forum, jurisdictional participation only”. In the the Heads of Delegation Forum, Ms. Lin shared the content and relevant practices of Taiwan’s new "Labor Occupational Accident Insurance and Protection Act" on the two topics of how to intervene early to assist workers with occupational injuries or diseases to return to work and how to increase the number of occupational injuries or diseases reporting cases. Ms. Lin explained employers' notification obligations under the “Occupational Safety and Health Act”, and the system of recognized hospitals for occupational injuries, diseases or rehabilitation. Ms. Lin also shared the way of increasing the number of occupational injuries or diseases reporting cases by screening and tracking those reported cases in the recognized hospitals. Number of participants in this forum were highly interested and appreciated for Ms. Lin’s sharing.

 Through the participation of this international conference, we exchange experiences and establish the friendship of various organizations such as the labor insurance authorities, insurance companies, the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV), the Canadian Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), etc.
