  • Last Modify Date:2022-02-08

To continue the bilateral occupational safety and health cooperation between Taiwan and the UK, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the Ministry of Labor and Health and Safety Executive (UK's HSE) of the Great Britain jointly organized and held “the 2nd Annual Taiwan OSHA – HSE (UK) Occupational Safety & Health Summit” on November 25, 2021. Using the video conference, both parties mutually shared occupational safety and health policies, promotion strategies and practices, and discussed detailed items of future cooperation to enhance the Taiwan-UK safety partnership.

Mr. Wang Shang-Chih, the Deputy Minister of MOL, chaired the Summit with the participation of Tzou Tzu-Lien, the Director General of Taiwan OSHA and Sarah Albon, Chief Executive of HSE. John Dennis, Representative of British Office Taipei also participated in the Summit and delivered a speech. In addition, 53 representatives from the National Academy of Marine Research, Taipower Company, developers and manufacturers of the offshore wind industry, British companies in Taiwan, and the UK Renewables Committee established by British companies were invited to attend. During the Summit, both parties shared their safety and health policies and experiences about the offshore wind farm safety and health supervision strategies, and they also talked about how to improve occupational safety and health performance in the construction industry, as well as inspector training programs. Such interaction would let Taiwan learn from the UK’s practices and experience and allow British companies investing in Taiwan and offshore wind farm contractors from various countries to understand the strategies and requirements of domestic occupational safety and health, which would jointly improve industrial safety efficiency and competitiveness.
