The Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Southern Taiwan Science and Technology Park Bureau have signed a memorandum of cooperation to promote the multi-somatosensory extended reality training of hazard identification

Director Tzu-Lien Tsou of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Ministry of Labor, and Director Wei-Cheng Lin of the Southern Taiwan Science Park Bureau, Ministry of Science and Technology, today (31st) jointly signed the memorandum of cooperation for promoting “Occupational Safety and Health Multi-somatosensory Extended Reality (XR), Disaster Prevention Simulation Training Field Project” under the witness of Minister Ming-Chun Hsu of the Ministry of Labor, aiming to reinforce hazard identification capabilities of employees at the workplace and develop cross-organizational and cross-field cooperation for win-win purposes.

Director Tzu-Lien Tsou of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration said that the multi-somatosensory extended reality (XR) at the disaster prevention simulation training hall is a combination of augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR) technologies, which provides a new online audio-visual platform that allows multiple players to operate and experience together, to achieve the authentic physical perception of workers, enhance the knowledge of hazard identification, and achieve the effect of preventing occupational disasters.

According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, this cooperation project draws on the scientific and technological development trends of the Southern Taiwan Science Park and the professional management experience of the Bureau, which will focus on occupational safety and health training, along with the integrated multi-somatosensory experience design, to introduce key contents such as standard operating procedures, occupational disaster prevention, and technology learning. Through memory points and fully immersive learning, it will be the first and the most advanced occupational safety and health multi-somatosensory extended reality simulation training center in Taiwan.
